
Biography & Experience
Sarah is a Pittsburgh native and a 2021 graduate of Grove City College where she earned her B.M. in Music Education with concentrations in trumpet and voice. Sarah is currently a graduate assistant for the WVU Bands Program within the West Virginia University School of Music where she is working towards her M.M. in Instrumental Conducting. She is an active performer, educator, and creator in the Pittsburgh region.
Previously, Sarah served as the Director of Bands at Clarion Area High School in Clarion, PA where she taught the concert, marching, and jazz bands for grades 6 through 12. She is a founding and current director of the Clarion County Community Band, and has served as a guest conductor with the Mercer Community Band, and the PennWest University Clarion campus wind ensemble. During the summer of 2019, Sarah held an internship at Carnegie Mellon University in collaboration with the Pre-College Summer Music Program. She served as the assistant conductor and a guest trumpet player with the brass ensemble, under the direction of Mr. Drew Fennell of the River City Brass Band.
As a vocalist, Sarah performs regularly in classical and musical theater genres. She has been seen recently in Barrow Civic-Theatre productions (B&B Dinner Theater, Summer 2024 revue), and in concert with local opera organization Aria 412. Upcoming in Summer 2026, she will be seen as a guest vocalist for the Mercer Community Band summer concert series. Within the School of Music at WVU, Sarah teaches private voice lessons through the WVU Community Music Program, and has performed with the WVU Chamber Singers.
Sarah is also a theater educator and actress, currently serving as Pit Conductor & Vocal Director for the award-winning Elizabeth Forward High School musical program. She was a member of the summer season and competition creative team at Jeter Backyard Theater for several years, serving in the role of Assistant Director/Choreographer. During this time, Sarah was a part of the creative team during developments of the pilot productions of Frozen Jr. and Frozen KIDS, licensed by Music Theatre International.
Beginning in spring of 2026, Sarah will continue her teaching career at Thomas Jefferson High School in the South Hills of Pittsburgh as the Director of Instrumental Ensembles, including all bands and orchestras at the high school level.
